“One, two, three… Oh, there are too many to count!” she giggled.
One evening, Mia noticed something unusual. A bright golden light was falling slowly from the sky.
Whoosh! Twinkle, twinkle!
The little light landed softly in the garden behind her house.
Mia put on her slippers, wrapped herself in a warm blanket, and hurried outside.
There, beside a bed of colourful flowers, she found a tiny golden star.
“Oh, hello, little star!” Mia whispered. “Why are you lying here?”
The star gave a tiny sparkle.
“I fell from the sky,” it said sadly. “Now I cannot find my way home.”
Mia felt sorry for the little star.
“Don't worry,” she said kindly. “You can stay with me while we find a way to help you.”
She made a cosy nest from soft leaves and placed the star inside it. Then she sat beside it and sang a gentle lullaby.
Twinkle, twinkle, little light,
You will find your home tonight.
As Mia sang, the star began to glow brighter and brighter.
Suddenly, a silver beam of moonlight shone down from the sky!
“Look!” cried Mia. “The moon is showing you the way!”
The little star floated gently upward. Higher and higher it went, until it reached its place among the other stars.
Before settling into the sky, it winked at Mia and sprinkled a shower of tiny golden sparkles over her garden.
“Thank you, Mia!” the star called. “Your kindness helped me find my way home!”
Mia waved happily. “Goodnight, little star!”
From that night on, one golden star always shone a little brighter above Mia's house.
And whenever Mia looked up at the sky, she remembered that even the smallest act of kindness could make the world shine.
